Why did Japan lose in Showa period?

1. Surrender of Japan

Why was Japan defeated in World War II?
My point is that democracy lead to mobocracy in Japan.

In Japan some people say that Japan had changed from Showa period.
I think that there is a turning point of Japanese democracy.
There is a continuation, and history is history.

2. Turning point

 It was Taishō democracy.
Japanese democracy was accelerated at that time.
And democracy has often lead to mobocracy from a long time ago in many countries.

"If we lose the carefulness, mobocracy will lead to the ruin of the country." (Direct or indirect democracy)

In addition, there was a fatal bug of the constitution of Japan.
After the death of leading politicians from Meiji period, Japan lost its control because of the problem of tōsuiken (supreme command authority of the emperor).

3. Liberty and democracy, country and war

 Liberty and democracy are replaceable.
We have to pay a corresponding cost to maintain them.
They are worth for us to protect.

They might be useful for the total war.
But I think that there is another reason why they are useful for our society.

"It isn't the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change."
"Highly improved democracy may be a most responsive forms of government." (Evolution and politics)
