I liked study when I was a junior high school student. Everyone praised me, but I didn't know the real reason. I studied hard when I was a high school student. I believed that I would find something priceless in college for no reason. I yearned study when I was a college student. I understood the worth of study, but my intuition told me that something which I had searched was out of school. After graduating from college, I kept searching it. But now I'm lost, and I just don't know what it is anymore. When I look back the locus of my life, I can realize that every meeting and parting is just a coincidence. It takes more than 20 years for me to understand it. But if I tell it to someone, they maybe make a fool of me. 勉強が好きな中学生だった。 理由はよく分からなかったけれど、勉強すれば褒められた。 よく勉強する高校生だった。 理由はよく分からなかったけれど、大学でかけがえのないものを見つけられると信じていた。 学問に憧れる大学生だった。 学問や研究に価値があることは分かったけれど、自分が追究するべきものは学校の外にあると直感した。 社会に出てから僕は何かを探し続けてきたけれど、今はもう自分が何を探していたのかも分からなくなった。 そうして描かれた人生の軌跡を顧みて気付くのは、日々繰り返される出会いや別れが偶然に過ぎないということである。 こんなことを理解するのに20年以上も時間がかかったけれど、こんなことを人に伝えても当たり前だとバカにされるだけだろう。 父は亡くなる前に人生の意味を僕に問うたけれど、僕は答えられなかった。 父の質問に答えられなかったのは、これが最初で最後となった。 しかし、父は亡くなる直前に、きっと悟ったに違いない。 それは恐らく、問うに及ばない問いである。 そして、答えるに及ばない問いである。 ・ この記事を英語で読む。

I like solitude. There is a truth which people who fear solitude never understand. I wonder if people who can't face theirselves can face another person. I wonder if people who can't love theirselves can love another person. It's irreplaceable for us to meet good friends.
