I'm a historicist, but ...

1. Self-reflection and self-discipline

 The purpose of writing this article is half for self-reflection and self-discipline.
Not only historians and researchers, but every person has studied history to varying degrees.
Some people probably studied about history from their school teachers in elementary, middle, and high school.

In addition to school studies, one needs to learn a certain amount of history in order to know something.
For example, if you are interested in China or the US, you need to know a certain amount of Chinese or the US history.
When studying any new field, not only foreign countries, it should be very beneficial to study its historical background.
Political history, economic history, cultural history, not only social sciences but also natural sciences, industrial history such as the automobile industry, etc.

2. Significance of studying history

 Regardless of whether in the East or the West, the significance of studying history is often said to be.

What is history?
Maybe you know, "it is a continuous process of interaction between the historian and his facts, an unending dialogue between the present and the past." (From What Is History? by E. H. Carr)

 One concept that more logically explains the significance of studying history is path dependence.
Of course, there are various path dependencies in the world, each of which has various circumstances and conditions, and there are various ways to explain them.

3. Studying history can not help us look the future

 Although it's important to study history, we should not be overconfident about it.
I just wanted to write this sentence.
No matter how much we study, in the end, we humans can not know what will happen in the future.
 That is a reason why we should at least study history and science.
The accuracy of a prediction, whether it comes true or not, is, in other words, only a matter of probability.
For example, compared to gamble, which is unpredictable in the short term whether it will go up or down, a long-term investment has a higher probability of success.
From another angle, it could be said that the risk is spread out over time.
I'm not an investment affiliate earner, so I will stop this discussion here.

１　原文 　後漢の魯恭字は仲康、扶風平陵の人なり。 粛宗の時、中牟の令に拝せらる。 専ら徳化を以て理むることを為し、刑罰に任ぜず。 郡国に螟ありて稼を傷ふ。 犬牙の縁界も中牟に入らず。 河南の尹袁安之を聞き、其の実ならざるを疑ひ、仁怨の掾肥親をして往いて之を廉さしむ。 恭阡陌を随行し、倶に桑下に座す。 雉有り過ぎて其の傍らに止まる。 傍らに童児有り。 親曰はく、「児何ぞ之を捕らざる。」と。 児言ふ、「雉方に雛を将ゐる。」と。 親、瞿然として起ち、恭と訣れて曰はく、 「来たる所以の者は、君の政迹を察せんと欲するのみ。 今虫境を犯さず、化鳥獣に及び、竪子に仁心有り。 三の異なり。」と。 府に還り状を以て安に白す。 （『蒙求』より） ２　現代語訳 　後漢の魯恭は、字は仲康で、扶風平陵の出身である。 粛宗の時代に、中牟県の長官に任命された。 刑罰に頼らず、徳による教えで世を治めていた。 地方に害虫が発生して、田畑の穀物を荒らした。 県境が複雑に入り組んだ場所でも、害虫は中牟県内には入らなかった。 河南郡の長官であった袁安はこのことを聞いて、本当ではない（嘘ではないか）と疑った。 仁怨という役職にあった肥親に、中牟県を視察させた。 魯恭はあぜ道を随行し、肥親と共に桑の木の下に座った。 キジが目の前を通り過ぎて、傍らに止まった。 その傍に子どもがいた。 肥親は言った。 「坊やはどうしてキジを捕まえないのかね。」 子どもは言った。 「キジがひなを連れているからです。」 肥親は驚いて立ち上がり、魯恭と別れる際に言った。 「ここに来た理由は、あなたの政治を視察しようと思ったからです。 ここでは害虫は県内に入らず、その徳は鳥や獣にも及び、子どもにも思いやりの心が備わっています。 ３つの違い（優れた点）があります。」 肥親は郡の役所に帰って、その状況を袁安に報告した。 ・ 愛知県公立高校入試過去問古文・漢文現代語訳に戻る。
